Revisiting Paradise

13th Sept 2011 spent the night on the shoulder of Mnt Rainier washington. Got some piccies of the supernova despite a near full moon. The next day I moved up to Paradise. V. Luck at this time of year that the top was clear, and below in the valley it was full of cloud. Got a good flight in with the plane, and had great views of the fires on Mount Hood, all but obscuring Mnt St Helens
Life at Mono!

Mono lake is about 2x as salty as sea water which makes the birds float very high in the water. Its also quite basic, about pH 10, making about 100x more basic than sea water. Around the lake there are millions of brine flies, and when the lake is still you can see the birds eating the brine shimp, which form big clouds.

25th July 2011, and I've made it out of LA, and the sky forcecasts look great. I find a nice hill which looks like it's got an observatory on it, and wait for dark. There is wind and dust. A bad combo for anyone trying to point a telescope at a point source. The wind refuses to die down, so I look for something to do while waiting. Eventually I start playing with the lasers, and decide to laser...
The Hard drive from Montana to the BC coast
Переглядів 4,3 тис.13 років тому
Yeah sorry if this one seems a little rushed.... it was! Well actually I had a wedding to attend in BC (and it was when I was somewhat worse for wear after that when I did the charity blog thing with FactvsReligion). Well after driving some 2800 miles, the couple of hundred to get to the BC coast seemed a small price to pay, plus I had a friend to visit in Vancouver! :-)

This actually dates back to the day after the PZ Myers chat (Sept 18th 2010). Happened to be going along I90 and decided to drop by Theodore Roosevelt National Park. Never been here before. It was overcast, windy and none too warm. Its meant to be a good place for wild life but I only saw one Bison and one antelope. It's kind of like a cold northern badlands, and obviously gets hammered in wint...
Timelapse drive across the US, Part 1

Had the HD webcam rolling at 1 frame per second driving all across the US. This is part 1. NY to just short of Cleveland. Its actually speed up a bit in editing, to about 100x speed, which means the typical cruise speed is about 10x the speed of sound.

HUMPBACK WHALES HO!!!!
Переглядів 6 тис.14 років тому
So this is going back a week or two now to the first week or so of August 2010. The place is on the East coast just north of Boston, a little place called Gloucester. Just off the coast is a place where a load of sediment is bought up by oceanic currents, and all that nutrients makes it a good place for the whales to come and feed (Stellwagon Bank). It was quite a trip, 2hrs out, half an hour s...

Prelude to the ascent of Static Peak. Even going up Static early in the season requires an ice axe (or a degree of gusto) in places. Fortunately this was late in the season. Enroute my AC convertor that gives me 120v from the 12v of the car burnt out, and all of a sud...

Does it ever blow anyone's mind that they are working, seemingly so casually, on a surface that was painstakingly shaped and polished to 50 nm, a process that took 11 years (acknowledging 4 of those years were due to World War II)? To me, this would be like holding the original Declaration of Independence.

I feel fortunate to live within an hour driving time to Palomar. Big trees and nice campground nearby as well. A good amount of dwarf planets were discovered in the early 2000s at Palomar. really cool that it's still viable. The story of how they managed to get all that stuff up the twisty mountain road back then is amazing as well.

In fact it was my PhD work with my colleagues , developing a sodium lidar to create an artificial star in Germany from 1980 on; prior to the US "classified" work. Typical silly US idea to classify this work, since all technical details had already been published broadly at that time !

That telescope would be quite an amazing instrument even if it had been built today, but to think it was designed and built in the 1930's/40's without the aid of computer simulations or other modern technology, and it is still an active research instrument after all these years....I find that completely mind-blowing.

so beautyintheuniverse believes the grand canyon is a tectonic plate boundery. ha.ha.ha. thats ridicules. how far removed from reality is it possible to get? i live in a mountain myself as im i suppsed to beleive that the local tiny mountain river next to my house is a tectonic plate just because it looks exactly like the grand canyon is ridicules. i wish people was not made to believe in continents in the first place. they dont exist. they are just whats above sea level and nothing more than that. the space in between the continents is just a big river just like the grand cranyon and like my little mini canyon where i live in the mountains in the northern hemisphere. its funny its still water running trough the grand canyon and people buy into this tectonite stuff that is not needed to explain the formation. the hills does not even have layers. they don't exist. there are hundreds of cavelike tunnel passageways inside the lake walls that is probably ancient buildings. the miles deep canyon have revealed ruin like structures. the whole land above is likely giant super city structures covered in mud that is now fossilized into stone. i have a fish head fossil laying around that is 99 percent stone and have obvious caracteristics of being a real fish head yet it is mostly stone. that is because its petrified by small microparticles of sand that get into the flesh of an animal and slowly fills it up with sand and water until it turn into solid stone. the same process like my own fossil have happend in the whole canyon. viking skips that was supposly burrials was found next to the beach of the ocean in europe and was covered like a pile of what we call a mound. this mound was likey caused by a flooding of sand and dirt that burried the ships in mud and the thickness of the mud is likely the same above the wreacage as around it but since the boat itself take space it foms a mound shape. the same goes for cities below the mud flood next to canyon walls. it is just a thin layer of mud covering the superstructures beneat the upper land. a big land was probably flooded over in some ancient flood event and cause the apperence of large land formation with small hills and new terrein and the canyon river formed later. there is an old map of the earth that is upside down that shows a bigger african continent than what is today and proves that 20 percent of africa have been flooded over in the past creating the outline of the african continetal mass we see today as the continents have been bigger in the past. that ruins the theory that continents are separate bodies. they are only extrusions above sea levels that get bigger or smaller depend on sea level. all the old continents have been flooded over in the past as there is severa missing supercontinents that is now in the mid atlantic submerged under water and flooded over. these landmasses no longer exist from view because their under water. continents does not drift or move becaue if you take away all the water on earth, whats left is a single landmass that have no divided parts in it in the first place. only the ocean create the illusion that continents exist and are separate. if you don't believe im right, i assume your to far gone into the tectonic mythology and cant shake yourself from this crazy idea that was invented by a philosoper 200 years ago and created the geological society based on pure imagination. all the geological layers they have made is pure invention and does not exist. thay always see layers inside rivers. they have found no layers elsewhere than rivers. that is because they take erosions as evidence for layers and apply their model to every site they look. there is no volcano that have formed any canyons or rivers like this in the world and they are not evidence for tectonic plates either. they hare just magma that bleads out of the earth core randomly all over the earth. many big cities all over the world is built on the roof of more ancient buildings underneat the ground that are also cities that was flooded over long ago. if these buildings underground start to collapse, many new and modern buildings like in american cities will fall down. there are no millions of years anything on earth. its all events that have happend within human existence all of it. the evidence is everywhere if you care to look and its overwhelming if you look close enough. there are no natural mountians in the world. all of these was some either manmade structure or animal at one time. dinosaurs that have been found the bones off are the newest beings that have existed that is now extinct. there are some mountains in peru that have a clear resemblence to giant reptiles and even apperence of artifacts in the their mouth that is also gigantic. this kind of stuff is all over the world. everything we know for a fact now is build purly on the imagination of few very powerful people in the world and not on observation interpration and studying of the rock formations themselves. its like everything existed at the same time in a gigantic biosphere and what we have now of the past is just myths. global floods are denied in favior is these new geological ideas that further the amnesia of the memory of our past and removes us compleatly from reality. you can put carbon and radiometric dating up your ass as they does not make any sense to what i have seen exist on this planet and i refuse to believe that humans have existed for millions of years as that would have been needed to explain dinosaurs that have been found close to the surface on a land that contain ancient building ruins beneath the ground level below the sceletons of dinosaurs. no fossils are any older than as long as there have been humans on this planet. there is no cambrian explosion. there is no pangea continent. none of that exist. the theories are wrong. we need to rewrite history on a periodic basis to remove more ancient data that conflict with newer theories. this is what was done with ancient maps. they was interprated as being made wrong when in reality they show continents that are bigger than now and contains both the land present on the new maps including some extra land that existed before and disappeared in a more recent flood. floods have been the most denied events in history as they comletely ruin geological theories and much of the other one like palentology, and biology. much of insects that exist now is mutantions that have evolved the last 5000 to 12000 years ago from very few numbers of insects that survived the flood events and migrated. this also happend to the trees that exist now. for a type of fish i saw it muted its offspring from jellow fishes to black in one generation. that means that insects in large numbers they would be able to produce millions of mutations in a short time where giant beings and animals would need a long time to produce these mutations. an execption is trees that would produce one mutaiton per season as well but some trees that are the largest on earth take many many seasons to muture enough to reproduce and have much slower mutation rate of their seeds. the rest of my say need an entire book to explain our trues history as far as the evidence goes that we can observe.

Your flights are ILLEGAL in the Bridger Wilderness! You needed to read the information on the map you showed at the start of the video, which clearly states all motorized items prohibited. Even rescue helicopters require special permission every time to land in the Wilderness - and sometimes it is not given if an injured person can be evacuated by non motorized means.
